April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. Ross is among the few female beach volleyball players that have done so. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics and will attempt to win her third Olympic medal. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic medal. The next chance she'll ever have to do so at the age of 39. Nevertheless, she remains confident of achieving top honours. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. It's also going to be an issue of luck. Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and sibling. The athletic pursuits she pursued continued at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of different sports. Along with the indoor game, she also ran track and basketball in her pre-college days. But she clearly was superior to the rest in this latter game. During her high school career she played middle blocker outside setter and hitter at the tennis court as per her bio at the college. Her efforts were recognized in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are doing what they do since 2017. But, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. She actually won several major championships while playing in the past with two different partners. among them a volleyball icon. She teamed up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's partner on the 2009 World Championships. At the 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded the gold medal. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). The fate of the matter was that Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. Together, they won beach volleyball bronze for the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross started her college career with the USC Trojans after graduation from high school. The Trojans were a few years away from when Ross hit the sand and turned pro. It was a successful performance for Ross during her time at the school. In 2000 she was voted Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans get to the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing loss in her sophomore season however she was able to return in the ranks of an All-American. The last two years with the Trojans team, she led them to victory by winning successive national titles. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross reach beach volleyball's highest level. Ross's mom died from breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. She continues to remember her deceased parent close and dear. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her both in and out of the water.
